From the Principal
Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
I had the opportunity to visit each class this week and say hello. I was met with friendly, vibrant faces who are eager to learn. I am learning names slowly, but it is hard work! During this visit I spoke to children about a few expectations that our school has:
- Quiet games and walking in the undercover area
- Tackling is not permitted any sport or activity
- Using our toilets and washing hands to leave them respectfully for others to use
- Remembering our school approach to be inclusive, safe, respectful and persistent
- And updated them on the new build and the interruptions to play spaces
The Easter Raffle will be held in our assembly area next Thursday (April 3) at 2.30pm. Please note that due to the expected length of assembly we will no have the usual messages & awards. It is anticipated that there could be over 50 hampers to win. Please remember that there is a plain clothes day scheduled for this Friday – where students contribute an Easter Item/Egg for the hamper.
The building project is moving at a high pace and are slightly ahead of schedule. Kubale’s have been working on top, around and underneath each other, including weekends to ensure that the concrete slab is poured before the inclement weather comes in. It is estimated that the slab will be poured on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week. At the end of this week, Kubale’s plan is to fence off the basketball court area and we will see further excavation work to construct our second court. Dan our site supervisor hopes to have this done and returned for student use by the start of next term.
Our school will have a practice evacuation on Monday before recess. Students will be evacuated to our primary location which is on our school oval. This practice is to ensure students are familiar with the procedures should it ever occur. We will practice a lock down procedure in Term 2.
A big thank you to all our school families for supporting our Mini Vinnies Icypoles. The team has raised $830 for Caritas. This money will go towards supporting communities in less fortunate areas with water and food provisions.
A reminder that Term 1 ends on Thursday April 3. It is a school closure day on Friday April 4. Term 2 resumes on Tuesday April 22 with a shortened week interrupted by Easter Monday (April 21) and Anzac Day on Friday (April 25).
Finally, I would also like to acknowledge the care and consideration by all families using the car line drop off by ensuring pedestrian safety is paramount. I have seen cars taking their time and giving way so that families or students can cross safely. Can we all please be mindful of not using the disabled park for a quicker drop off as these spaces need to stay free for families with disability permits.
Warm Regards,
Stephen Pitt | Principal
