Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,

Special Events
We’re looking forward to welcoming our school community through the gates this week for two special events.

On Thursday afternoon, we’ll be celebrating Mother’s Day with an event filled with warmth and appreciation. Thoughtful activities have been planned to help our mums feel valued and cherished; we’re excited to share this lovely afternoon with you.

On Friday, we’ll be holding our Annual Cross Country. Families are warmly invited to come along, cheer on their children, and get into the spirit by wearing house colours.

Due to ongoing building works, we’ve made adjustments to the course and viewing areas to ensure a safe and clear track for our runners. We appreciate your understanding and support.

Due to child safety requirements, all parents need to sign in either via the QR Code on the gates or through the office for both events. Gates will be open at 2.30pm to 2.40pm and supervised by staff for the Mother’s Day Afternoon. If you arrive after the gates have closed, please enter via the office. Similarly with the Cross Country, gates will be open until 9.00am. Then parents will need to come through the office.

To make the day even more enjoyable, the P&F group will be running a free BBQ for all students and families, students will get to enjoy their sausage in bread once they have completed the cross country circult in their classrooms. A coffee van will also be on-site, serving hot and cold beverages for the adults from 8.30am, please consider supporting this iniative while you are here.

The P&F are also looking for extra hands to help with the BBQ and upcoming events. If you're interested in volunteering, please collect a Volunteer Pack from the school office and ensure you have a valid Working With Children Card.

Incident Update
I’d also like to address some concerns about an incident that occurred earlier this week. To clarify, no formal lockdown was initiated. Yard duty staff made the decision to temporarily close a section of the yard to allow a student time and space to self-regulate, and to ensure the safety and wellbeing of others. This is a standard and respectful approach we take in managing behaviour.

Following such incidents, we always conduct a thorough debrief to reflect on how we can better support the student involved, as well as the wider student body. Please be assured that should a practice or formal lockdown or evacuation occur, families will be informed accordingly.

Building Works Update
We have slowed a little while surveyors and architects design the retaining walls required for the new basketball court. The roof sheeting will be installed on Friday this week and line marking on the new basketball court is set to be completed next week. We have concrete steps being poured tomorrow. This will create a seating area to view the undercover area and fill the void between the differing heights of the courts.

Disabled Car Parks
With the current changes to carline; and the temporary disruptions to the Copelands Road drop off and pick up point, I would to thank you all for your patience and understanding. As we settle into these new arrangements, I would like to remind all families that pedestrian safety is still paramount.

We have received reports that disabled parks are being used for a quicker drop off by people not displaying the appropriate permit, please respect that these spaces need to stay free for families/visitors with disability permits.

Parents & Friends Purchased Sports Equipment
A big thank you to the P&F who have provided new sports equipment for the students to use. Two Connect four games, under cover games and portable goal posts have been made available for kids to use. The P&F have agreed to set a target to raise $7000 by the end of the year to buy new reading resources for our junior school. Due to the rapid growth of the junior school, resources have become increasingly scarce. This commitment is another reason why fundraising and P&F support are so valuable. A Father’s Day Stall and a Cookie Dough Fundraiser are booked for Term 3!
