Performing Arts
Homegroup 1
In Homegroup 1, students are continuing to work together in groups or pairs to create pieces. We have been looking at how movement and use of space are used effectively. In pairs students pretended to work on a piece of Art which was their partner. They had to move their partners limbs in a certain way to create a sculpture. Students created animals, three dimensional shapes and buildings! Students also took part in a roleplay activity in pairs. One student pretended to be a kangaroo eating a farmer's crops. The other student pretended to be the farmer. The farmer had to react to the kangaroo eating the crop and the kangaroo had to choose what it would do next. In this activity students worked on improvisational and teamwork skills to collaboratively build their ideas.

Homegroup 2
Students in Homegroup 2 have moved on from advertising to understanding how News segments are constructed on television. Students learnt how an anchor delivers the news, whilst other news reporters may be filmed where action is taking place and to interview members of the community. Students have started to work together in groups to develop an idea they would like to report on and perform to the class. Their idea must be absurd and ridiculous. For eg. 'In Warragul, unicorns are falling from the sky!' When we are back at school we will move from discussing ideas in groups to working out how they will be presented. I am looking forward to seeing their creative ideas come to life!
