Performing Arts
In the past 2 weeks we have been getting ready to create a small performance for the Art Show at the end of term.
We are creating a St Angela Olympics Television show. At this stage, the students are coming up with ideas to create certain scenes. Instead of the teacher writing the performance, the children are part of the creative process of developing their own ideas and collaborating with peers.
In Homegroup 1, students are practising singing 'We are One' and coming up with actions. We have also been doing some movement sequences to give the students more of an idea of how Opening Ceremonys' work with mass people in a stadium.
In Homegroup 2, we have been developing a slow motion running race scene. The focus has been on slowing movement down so we can see each facial and body expression clearly when athletes are running, winning and losing. Students are beginning to understand how important expression is when your communicating to the audience without dialogue.
In Homegroup 3, we are continuing to develop small scenes in small groups. Some students are creating gymnastic movement routines, whilst others are creating sponsor ads and weight lifting competition scenes. There is a buzz in the Performing Arts classroom as each student is contributing their unique ideas in a creative, vibrant and safe space!
