Performing Arts with Mrs Hatch
In both classes of Performing Arts we have been focusing on working together as a team. When Performers are on stage it is important that all performers collaborate to ensure the piece of work comes together successfully. In Home Room Group 1, students focused on being in tune with one another through mirroring each other's actions. One student would move in a certain way while another would copy to create a mirroring scene. This exercise takes concentration and collaboration and the students improved as they became more aware of each other.
We have also been learning how to communicate with our body. On stage, body language is an important tool for communicating emotions, ideas and thoughts to both the other characters and the audience. Students in Home Room Group 1 & 2 have been working on 'Freezing in Action' by communicating through physical actions. Home Room Group 2 have also developed small scenes where they start in a 'Freeze Frame.' The students were able to analyse and think about each movement they made with their body and what those movements might be communicating. This was able to teach the students that Performing is not only about communicating through our voices, but also through body language.
