Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
Our Grade 5/6 students have returned from an exciting and memorable camp in Melbourne, where their behavior was exemplary throughout the trip. Highlights included visits to the MCG, the Eureka Skydeck, Parliament House, the Myer Christmas windows, and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The students had the chance to explore these iconic landmarks, building teamwork and creating lasting memories along the way. A huge thank you to all of our dedicated staff for attending and making this trip a success. We are so proud of how our students represented the school!
Late Arrivals and Sign In Procedures:
A reminder to all that our school start time is 8:55am, this is when students line up for morning announcements. By 9:00am students are heading into their classrooms and teachers are mandated to complete the roll at this time.
Children arriving after 9:00am, are to be brought to the office to be signed in by a parent/guardian and will be marked as late arrival on the roll. Students will then be escorted to their classroom by a support staff member.
For the safety of children, it is a parent’s responsibility to ensure you sign your child in and walk them to the office, students should not be doing this unaccompanied.
2025 Preparation:
We are pleased to announce that we have finalised our staffing for the 2025 school year. Details of the teachers for each grade will be shared in due course. We are excited to welcome our new classroom teachers: Mrs Chloe Anderson, Ms Tanya Laidlaw, and Miss Sonia Mancarella to our school community next year.
Students will find out who their 2025 teacher is on Monday 16th December, at our ‘Meet the Teacher’ session. Foundation students for 2025 will be notified by a letter home.
Shortly we will also begin the process of planning our class lists for the 2025 school year. Whilst this is a difficult and time-consuming task, we are blessed to have such knowledgeable staff who are aware of student needs and work collaboratively to make professional judgements in relation to class planning and student placement.
If your child has a particular need or there is important information that we should be aware of when considering class placements for the 2025 school year, we ask that parents put this information in writing and submit it via email to principal@stangelawarragul.catholic.edu.au by Wednesday 27th November.
Please note we do not accommodate requests for particular teachers and all requests will be considered on merit but there are no guarantees. Any requests received after the above date will not be taken into consideration and once grades have been set there will be no changes.
Foundation Orientation:
It was wonderful to see the smiling faces of our 2025 Foundation students as they began their orientation sessions last week. As part of our commitment to inclusivity, we encourage everyone in our school community to warmly welcome and support our new families as they embark on their educational journey at St Angela of the Cross.
The Foundation 2025 students will complete their final orientation session next week. We look forward to continuing this exciting journey with them!
Kind Regards,
Rachael Williams | Acting Principal
Reflection with Deacon Mark Kelly | A Lot Bigger King
A Lot Bigger King
Pope Paul VI retitled this feast “Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe.” (John 18:33-37). We have learnt better than triumphantly proclaiming, as we once did, Christ the King as the emperor of the Catholic Church to the exclusion of all others. God is a lot bigger than that! We have developed “a consciousness (which) holds that church teachings are modified in the light of science, cultural shifts in consciousness and insights from historical studies” (Treston K. The Wind Blows Where It Chooses, p59). For example, Br Guy Consolmagno SJ, Director of the Vatican Observatory, organised a ground-breaking conference in 2017 at Castel Gandolfo, near Rome which reiterated what past pope’s and theologians have been impressing on all God’s people, that the myth of science and religion being incompatible must be finally ended, and that “there never was anything to fear for religious believers in the theory of evolution.”(Daniel O’Leary An Astonishing p18)
“Yes, I am a King” says Jesus, the Christ. “I was born for this; I came into the world for this: to bear witness to the truth.” (John 18:35). Pursuing this universal truth in Christ at the centre of the cosmos, we emphasise, “our journey towards the consummation of history which fully corresponds to the plan of his love: “to unite all things in him, things in Heaven and things on earth” (Gaudium et Spes[Vatican II document, “Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World”] no.45). Because, as Pope Benedict XVI proclaimed, “In light of the centrality of Christ, Gaudium et Spes interprets the condition of contemporary men and women, their vocation and their dignity, and also the milieus in which they live: the family, culture, the economy, politics, the international community. This is the Church’s mission, yesterday, today and for ever: to proclaim and witness to Christ so that the human being, every human being, may totally fulfil his or her vocation”. (Benedict XVI St Peter’s Square, Solemnity of Christ the King 2005).

St Vincent de Paul Wishing Tree Donations
St Angela of the Cross Primary School has a long tradition of supporting our local St Vincent de Paul Society.
Leading up to the festive season, St Vincent de Paul make Christmas Hampers for families in our local community who are in need of support, particularly at this time of year.
To assist St Vinnies, we ask our school families to donate items that could bring joy to a child or teenager during this special time of year.
Any support you can offer at this time would be greatly appreciated. We ask that donations be at school before Friday 13th December.
Thank you for your continuous spirit of giving.
Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
We ask that you label every piece of clothing/container that your child brings to school. Children can leave objects sitting around, a label makes it much easier to return items to the right child.
We have quiet a few unnamed items in lost property at the moment. As the end of the school year approaches, we felt that it might be a good time to do a stock take of your child's uniform and other items. If there is anything missing, please pop into the office and check to see if we have it in the unclaimed lost property draw.
Any unclaimed items will be donated to charity.
Thank you.
Please note there has been a delay with shipping orders from Issue 7. Scholastic are working hard on a solution and anticipate orders to be here by the end of the week.
