Dear Parents,
It is with great excitement that I announce that we were successful in receiving a Federal Government Grant of 3 million dollars to go towards our stage 2 building project. This will enable us to commence building next year. Stage 2 will consist of an additional 8 classrooms, a specialist art room, student amenities and a canteen. The plans for stage 2 have recently been submitted to planning and we are hopeful of going to tender mid-January.
End of year Mass and Nativity Play
On Wednesday 15th December we would like to welcome our parents to our end of year Mass and Nativity play to be held outside in the school undercover area. Mass will begin at 10am with the play commencing straight after. Parents are then welcome to stay and have morning tea with their children.
Due to current restrictions all parents wanting to attend must adhere to the school sign in protocols and show evidence of being double vaccinated.
Please note only parents/guardians will be able to attend this event.
Thankyou Parents and Friends Committee
In what has been a tough year with lockdowns and restrictions our school P&F committee were still able to organise our chocolate and pie drive fundraisers. This raised much important funds for our school. I would like to thank all the members of the committee for their hard work and dedication and all of our families for supporting the initiatives. The profit made for this year was $2488.70, with the majority of these funds going towards the installation of our sandpit. We look forward to what 2022 may bring!
Many in our school community continue to face financial impacts as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are committed to supporting families experiencing financial challenges through our School Fee Concession programs, and encourage any parent/carer/guardian experiencing difficulties to contact us regarding fee assistance.
Please contact Lauren Soumilas on 5622 9800 or email lsoumilas@stangelawarragul.catholic.edu.au to explore confidential financial support arrangements or to obtain further information.
Child Safe Policy | Student Version
At St Angela of the Cross, student safety is paramount as is teaching our students about how to recognise, react and report unsafe situations. Throughout the year, Homegroup 3 has been working hard to unpack the schools child safe policy, including what it is and the purpose of having a child safe policy. They then worked on creating a child friendly child safe policy so that all students can learn about their rights and how we keep them safe at St Angela of the Cross.
It is a fitting time that as we near Human Rights Day on the 10th of December we also share our St Angela of the Cross Child Safe Policy | Student version.
Please click on the link to view. Well done to Homegroup 3 who have put an enormous amount of effort into this policy!
A whole school excursion to Myuna Farm has been organised for Thursday 9th December, 2021. All Students must arrive at 8:30am for a 8:50am departure.
Further details and permissions can be located on your PAM (Parent Access Module) account.
Please note that students will not be permitted to attend until consent has been provided.
Lunch Orders | Final day of service
The final day for lunch orders for 2021 will be this Friday 3rd December.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Alimentos Catering for their wonderful lunch order service during 2021.
We look forward to having lunch orders return next year from Friday 4th February, 2022.
St Vincent de Paul Christmas Hampers
For many, Christmas is a time to gather, celebrate, share a meal and exchange gifts. With over 18 months of COVID-19 challenges, countless families are struggling - especially those experiencing extreme disadvantage and trauma. Many are struggling to put food on the table and gifts under the tree.
Leading up to the festive season St Vincent de Paul make Christmas Hampers for families in our local community who are in need of support, particularly at this time of year. Leading up to Christmas we encourage families at St Angela of the Cross to donate a small gift that may bring joy to a child/young teenager during this special time of year.
Gift donations can be placed under the Christmas tree in the school office area. St Vincent de Paul have kindly asked that donations remain unwrapped to allow for ease of sorting and distribution.
Gift donations will be collected by St Vincent de Paul on Friday 10th of December. Thank you for your continuous spirit of giving and supporting others’ in need.
Catholic Social Teaching- Sock it to Poverty
Thank you to all of the students, families and staff at St Angela of the Cross for, once again, having such generous hearts. During Term 4, we have learnt about the work that Catholic Mission does in places around the world such as the Good Shepherd Kindergarten in Bangkok, Thailand.
Our social justice leaders have organised icy pole days, and a funky sock day to fundraise for this important mission.
Together the students at St Angela’s have raised $176 to support the children of the Good Shepherd Kindergarten.
A fabulous effort!
The time of Advent is the four week period of preparation for the season of Christmas. Advent begins the cycle of the Liturgical Year and focuses on the coming of the Lord. Last week students discussed the importance of waiting and preparing for Christmas and how they can share their special talents and gifts with others in the lead up to this special occasion. The students in Homegroup 1 and Homegroup 2 created their very own Advent wreaths to share in prayer with their families in the countdown to Christmas. Each week, students will participate in reflection on the four Sundays of Advent around the themes of Hope, Peace, Joy and Love.
Reflect on the question “What can I do to during Advent to prepare my inner self for Christmas?”
